butterfly chairs are a mid-century-modern classic originally designed in Buenos Aires in the 1940’s – but their simple beauty and comfort just never seem to go out of style. my parents had them back i was little and i still find them such an interesting addition to a living room or outdoor patio. they’re sophisticated looking but they’ve still got a fun, “i don’t take my decor too seriously” vibe going on. there’s an interesting little read here on the history of the butterfly chair and you can find some great reproductions at the citizenry; CB2; and urban outfitters (as well as just the frames, too). for vintage classics try chairish, ebay, etsy and your local flea markets – i see them out there all the time!
